The Value of "Thinking Plural"
Crossing intellectual borders
Our natural thinking leads us to constantly oppose categories. Man, Woman; Machine, Human; Left, Right… The result is that we choose and defend one side, and benefit only from one point of view. When you start to think plural, you try instead to think together two radically different concepts. So to benefit from their addition.
However, it’s not about fusing entirely two notions : it’s about making them collaborate and expressing their singularity together
This way of thinking is inspired by the intellectual tradition of Pragmatism. It invites us to consider the practical implications of our thoughts to think more clearly. Instead of basing our decisions on intellectual debate, it suggests assessing the relevance of our thinking according to the actions it implies.
Triggering untapped creativity
When you try to think in plural ways, you also start to see new connections between ideas. This helps you to consider differently your problems and find new ways to resolve them. It will also boost your insights in unexpected ways.
The binary way of thinking is a threat for reasonable and wise decision-making. When we think more diverse and plural, we find solutions more tailored to our situations. What we call “third term” solution, that find a compromise between two different alternatives.
